Spent the morning scouring waterfowl flocks on Skagit Flats. Along Beaver Marsh road a had a male American Wigeon x Mallard hybrid.




This bird very much resembled the individual that David Irons and I found near Maryhill, Klickitat Co, in Dec. To see pics of that bird go to

and scroll about halfway down the page. This bird had a white or whitish comma where the rear of the cheek would be. The mark was small, maybe three times the size of the eye or so.?




It was in a flock of hundreds of wigeon and mallards (and NO other ducks)... take Beaver Marsh Road from Rexville towards Mt Vernon. The road takes a 90 degree turn at a dairy. The birds were on the left side of the road, visible just after you clear the farm buildings.?




Lotsa Trump and Whistling Swans in the area as well.
