Subject: [Tweeters] Skagit and Samish eagle and snow goose photos.

The last few weekends I have spent at least one day at the Skagit and Samish
flats with camera in hand. Bald eagles were plentiful and allowed me to get
many images. Likewise with the snow geese. I have yet to get photos of a
blue phase snow goose although I did spot one at the far edge of a huge
flock 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I scanned the two large separate flocks with my
binos but could not spot one. The eagles were very cooperative, including a
juvenile that retrieved a dead bird from a ditch and proceeded to lunch on
it right next to the road. I was unable to locate the prairie falcon
yesterday, in fact I saw no falcons at all. Red-tailed and rough-legged
hawks were plentiful but harriers were somewhat scarce. I saw only one
short-eared owl but it was quite far away. The meadowlarks near Edison were
singing their hearts out in the early morning. Ducks were in the fields
everywhere and in large numbers. Birders were out in force and many other
people were attracted to the snow geese which were next to the road. There
were so many cars parked along the main road that a sheriff deputy was kept
busy writing tickets. People were walking across the fields to get close to
the geese. It was a bizarre scene. It amazes me how people don't have a clue
about respecting private property and the need for the geese to feed without
being disturbed.

I have added a number of new images to my website: photos.rlkimages.com
