I was delighted to get a call at 8 AM this morning from Barry
Woodruff, alerting me of the SAGE SPARROW at the Ridgefield NWR River "S"
Unit. When I arrived there was no one at the site so I parked and started
watching the area and after only a few minutes Will Clemons contacted me
on FRS radio station 11-22 to let me know that I was in the right spot.
Will was conducting a goose survey and he had seen my vehicle from the
other side of the refuge. It was raining fairly hard most of the time
that I waited and only after it ceased that the bird came back to feed
along the road edge near the Bachelor Island Wetlands sign and rock with
a plaque. This is a new addition to the Clark County checklist.
