Subject: [Tweeters] Towhee scooping up springtails

There has been a mass explosion of springtails in a couple areas around my
neighborhood including near my bird feeder. Millions of them forming
purplish/black living mold spots as they aggregate together in breeding
groups. I watched a towhee repeatedly scooping its bill on the top of the
snow, making little furrows, like a whale eating krill, sifting out the tiny
little snacks.
