Tweeters,

Poked around up north a couple hours this afternoon, hoping to find Bohemian Waxwings that have been reported in the area, plus anything else of winter interest.

Bumped into Gary Bletsch at the Skagit Game Range, he hadn't seen any BOWA's nor did I in a quick loop of the parking area and boat launch. I headed south and walked around at "Big Ditch", just north of Stanwood, but nothing of interest there. Similar luck around town in Stanwood and on Leque Island, as well as Norman and Boe Roads south of Stanwood.

About the only spot I had much of any birds was across the bridge in Island County at English Boom Park. The wind was strong and constant making for uncomfortable viewing but I got the scope out anyway and was able to pick out both Goldeneye, Am. and Eurasian Wigeon, Bufflehead, Horned Grebe, DC Cormorant, THOUSANDS of Dunlin, both Black and Surf Scoter, Pintail, Mallard, 3 Snow Geese, and a Pacific Loon. Also in the area were GB Heron, a Sharp-shinned Hawk and a Merlin making passes at the Dunlin. I saw almost nothing in the way of passerines today at any of my stops. Probably the wind.
