Hi Ruth, I just read your post. Several years ago we had a problem with house sparrows trying to nest in a box. I kept cleaning the nest out, and thought about taking the box down. One day in July while checking the box, I reached in and found fur, and small shavings. I reached in to scoop out what ended up being a huge pair of sleepy dark eyes, that looked at me, and then in a rather leisure fashion, reached over and climbed the tree trunk and disappeared out of sight. Never saw it again, or any nesting material after that. It was a wonderful experience.Vicki Biltz
