While filing my written species accounts for 2008, I noticed that I saw
no Northern Shoveler: none ever, anywhere. In 2008 I visited all the
same places in Thurston County, at the same times of the year, where
and when I dependably saw them in 2007.

Was I just "lucky" or did any of you also find Northern Shoveler absent
or in much reduced numbers? Or did you see them in normal abundance?

(The places I frequent in Thurston County where in the past I
dependably found them include Black Lake, McLane Creek bottoms,
Nisqually NWR, and Barnes Lake.)
