I just got back from Ecuador & Peru in late October. You can arrange for guides individually at many lodges, such as Sacha Lodge, Tandayapa lodge and Cabanas San Isidro. Be sure to bird both east and west slopes. They'll customize an itinerary for you. Small group is cheaper, but the lodge and guide would be happy to take just you out birding. You might contact our guide, Roberto Cedeno at info at ecosportadventure.com. If you have 10 days, I'd recommend 3 nights at Tandayapa, 3 in Mindo, and 4 with Cabanas San Isidro at both their Lodges. Birding is pretty incredible, the people are lovely and the government is bankrupt. Welcome to Latin America!

Subject: [Tweeters] Birding in Ecuador

I have a trip planed to go to the Galapagos's Islands in Dec.18 2009 to Jan.5 2010. I would like to go on a guided Birding trip on the main land of Ecuador. Unfortunately there is no guide service that offer a scheduled trip that fits my dates.I am looking for one or more people that would be interested in Birding in Ecuador before or after for mention dates. Of course I am open to suggestions
