Tahoma Audubon Society was treated to the first Washington showing of the
feature film, ON THE WING, an independent film by Dan Viens about the famous
swift chimney at the Chapman School in Portland. I was surprised and
gratified to find it a really fine film that covered all the bases and was
highly entertaining in some surprising ways. This is a great movie for a
birder and a good movie for anybody else. My companion, a nonbirder, said
it made him homesick for his previous home in Portland. It's been at
theaters and on TV in Oregon, but is just now drifting across the state line
since it became available on DVD. If you get a chance to see it, grab it!
