There are fifteen species of owls that occur in Washington, all but
one of which breed or have bred in the state (Snowy is a winter
visitor). Northern Hawk Owls nested successfully for the first time
twice during the summer of 2007 (see the journal North American Birds
Vol 61:4 & Vol 62:1 for more information including a photo -
http://www.aba.org/nab/).

To view a list of Washington birds, including all the owls, please
visit the website of the Washington Ornithological Society. Rare
birds that should be documented with written description or photos are
in italics.
