Hello all from MerryLynn,
Mike had a meeting at Wallula Junction this morning so Ginger Shoemake and I
dropped him off and birded McNary NWR and area. Just after we left Mike he
walked over to the Walla Walla River delta and checked the gulls and there
was a Lesser Black-backed Gull in among many Ring-billeds and Herring
between the old delta and the shore. Ginger and I found:
Tricolored Blackbirds - 2 on Dodd road.
Yellow-headed Blackbirds - 20+ "
Lots of Brewer's, Red-wings, starlings, and a few BH Cowbirds.
Red-breasted Mergansers - 5 males and 3 females - off the fishing access at
the north end of the Two Rivers HMU across from Dodd rd.
Tundra Swans - 16 at Casey Pond
Lots of Canvasback, Redhead, Ring-necked and Ruddy Ducks, N. Pintail, N.
Shoveler, Hooded and Common Mergansers, Western, Horned and PB Grebes.
Am. Wigeon in among the hundreds of Coots.
Bald Eagles and RT Hawks abundant.
Later, ML
