This morning (17 JAN 2009, 0800) I found the previously reported Long-eared Owl behind the business park near the animal shelter near the Kent Ponds. Two birds flushed from a conifer tree as I walked by, but I was only able to see one land, so there may be two long-eared owls roosting there. I took a picture, but the owl's coloration camouflaged it with the thick brush that it landed in when it turned its head. See if you can find it in the upper left of this picture:

Also, the red-shouldered hawk was perched in the normal spot on the pole in just past the animal shelter. Some pictures:
