For those of you who plant for the birds:

I've had an Orange Crowned Warbler feeding at my Arthur Menzies Mahonia this
week. This morning I was up very early, and to my surprise, it seemed to
have roosted in or near the shrub. I only see them in my winter garden once
every four years or so. This mahonia variety was hybridized at the
Arboretum, I think, and I value it as one of my REAL Heronswood purchases.
They are Black Throated Gray Warbler magnets in the Arboretum winter garden.
This OCWA is my first winter Warbler visitor to the plant. The shrubs are
also prized by the Anna's Hummers. They are kind of hard to find now, but
the Arboretum plant sales, perhaps....
