While sweeping cigarette butts off the sidewalk in front of the Anchor Pub in downtown Everett this morning (my wife and I just bought the business) I heard goose honking and looked up to see 150 - 200 Snow Geese flying overhead, headed north. On January 3rd I noticed a similar number over Everett headed south. Both sightings are the only time I've ever sighted Snow Geese in Washington outside of the Skagit. I've noted other tweeters posts about snow geese around. Maybe it was the snow, increased population this year, or both that has them spread about.

I'm not a big lister but I thought I'd start a list for the Pub. I'm gonna call it the Bar Tab. So far ,Snow Geese, Glaucous-winged Gull, Common Crow, Song Sparrow. Mammals include Rat, Raccoon, and (calling) Sea Lion. Visitors are welcome to add to the list. From the Pub it's a short walk south to Forgotten Creek, where community volunteers have put in a nice little trail up the wooded ravine, and also to a trail along the industrial waterfront that leads to a pocket beach at the mouth of Pigeon Creek, a much larger wooded ravine.
