I decided to take a couple of days to bird the area around Okanogan and
Tonasket.

I arrived in Wenatchee late afternoon:



Bald Eagle-E. of Wenatchee on ground in Orchard

House Sparrows-A flock of 30 in Waterville

Harlan's Hawk--Ridgeport Hill Rd, S. of Bridgeport

I set out from Okanogan at sunrise, around 7:30 AM-11 degrees F, about 1-2
feet of snow cover



Black-billed Magpie-6 on Happy Hill Rd, W. of Woodward

Rough-legged Hawk-Conconully Rd at Silver Hill Rd

Black-capped Chickadeee-4 along Conconully Rd

Raven-2 along Conconully Rd

Sharp-tailed Grouse-3 perched in low trees along Conconully Rd near Hess
Lake Rd

Golden Eagle-aloft very near where grouse were seen

Mallard Duck-50 in cattle field where farmer had removed the snow cover

Bald Eagle-2 off 97 between Riverside and Tonasket

Red-tailed Hawk-seen shortly after the eagles

Northern Shrike-mid morning just S of Tonasket on wire crossing 97-got good
look and photos out my sunroof

House Sparrow-flock of 20 in tree on road to Havillah just E. of Tonasket



>From mid morning until 3pm I drove through Molson, Mary Ann Creek Rd,
Chesaw, Bolster Rd, Sitzmark, Highland Sno Park. During this time I saw two
magpies and one raven. It was sunny and windless on the Okanogan Highlands,
ranging from 5 to 18 degrees F, but mostly not above 11 degrees F.



Gray-crowned Rosy Finch--a life bird-one on wire across Nealy Rd about 1 mi
W of Grange Rd.

Rough-legged Hawk, 97 S of Tonasket

Red-tailed Hawk, 97 S of Tonasket



Birds not seen: Bohemian Waxwing, Common Redpoll, Pine Grosbeak, Prairie
Falcon, all of which would be life birds. Hope to see them tomorrow. Also
did not see any Owls.
