hello tweeties,

i am very excited to say that another photographer has generously sent some mystery bird images to add to the collection. this may seem like a small thing to you, but i find it to be very exciting and can hardly wait to share them with you! this reminds me to let you know that you can contact me with any "mystery birds" that you'd like to share with a large and appreciative audience -- what better way to make sure that your images are really SEEN and STUDIED than by asking a bunch of birders to ID the bird?

the most decently demystified mystery bird, courtesy of Richard Ditch, was a Lucy's Warbler, Vermivora luciae;

be sure to check the link to be sure you agree with this ID.

today's mystery bird, also courtesy of photographer, Richard Ditch, is relatively easy, so this is your chance to be correct in your ID, even if you are a beginner!

OT: i also wanted to share this image of the day with you, even though this is not a bird;

this image, courtesy of the brilliant photographer, joel sartore (and generously shared with us by National Geographic), beautifully captures the plight of an endangered species in just one image! who says that a picture is not worth a thousand words?

cheers,
