Today, I switched targets and headed out towards Davenport to try to find the Snowy Owl that Ron Dexter reported yesterday. My first stop at Morrison and Janett Road produced only other birders and a few Horned Larks. I talked to a couple folks and no one had seen the Snowy Owl all day. I then received Craig Corder's report of White-winged Crossbills in Harrington while I was parked next to the Davenport cemetery so I headed south.

I covered the Harrington cemetery and just about the whole town of Harrington with no luck on the crossbills. I did find a very active area with Bohemian Waxwings, Robins, Starlings, and House Finches centered around a Mountain Ash tree. I also noted a feeder in Harrington with close to 15 Eurasian Collared Doves coming to it.

Back north to Davenport, I found the big flock of Bohemian Waxwings in town. I also scanned a lot of the cone-bearing trees with no crossbills found.

On the way back home, I stopped at the Morrison and Janett intersection again (about 4:15pm) and spotted a lump in the snow far out to the northeast. I got the scope out and spotted the Snowy Owl. It then flew off to the east so I drove up Bennet Road and found the owl on top of an utility pole. What a nice look!
