Hi All,

I spent about an hour wandering around along the Edmonds waterfront at mid
day today. I started at the Edmonds Marsh which was extremely quiet. There
were half a dozen herons resting among the cattails, and a few crows and
gulls were about. The very reliable male Anna?s Hummingbirds were present,
as were the song sparrows, a few Red-winged Blackbirds and a robin or two,
but other than that I saw very little activity.

I walked over to the fishing pier, passing a flock of Brewer?s Blackbirds
(It may seem odd, but this is one of my favorite birds!) and a crow or two
on the way. Horned Grebes were feeding among the channels in the marina,
and a kingfisher was calling somewhere in the distance. From the fishing
pier I could see Western, Horned, and Red-necked Grebes. Red-breasted
Mergansers, Surf Scoters, Double-crested Cormorants and many gulls were also
out in the sound. As I left the pier a Rock Pigeon eyed me warily from a
railing about 3 feet away.

Along Olympic Beach I encountered another Rock Pigeon that was ingesting
some grit to aid him in digestion. A Mew Gull, 2 Buffleheads and more
Red-breasted Mergansers were feeding about 100 feet off shore. Continuing
on to Brackett?s Landing I saw mostly Horned Grebes and Surf Scoters.

Although there weren?t too many birds to see today, at least it was a nice
sunny day to be out! I only took a few photos, but if you?d like to see 5
of them (2 mew gull, 2 Horned Grebe and 1 Anna?s Hummingbird) they can be
