Hello Tweeters,
Today I spend 4 hours trying to find the Bewick's Swan, but looking over
every Swan with my Scope,I could not relocate this bird.I run in to Tim
O'Brien,I took my time today counted and recounted all the three different
area, starting where the 12 Snow Goose where, there also where 15
Trumpeter.Further down the road going Thurs the River there where two groups
of Swans 43 Trumpeter and 6 Tundra,I had great looks at this birds.Further
down to the river there where 201 Trumpeter and 9 Tundra,so all together I
had 15 Tundra Swans,but NO BEWICK'S SWAN.
I started the day on hwy12 where the gravel pit is on Tidwell Rd,this is the
area what me and Patrick had on the CBC Satsop count.Birds seeing here was
The Red-breasted Sapsucker 1,Red -breasted Nuthatch 1,Golden-crowned
Sparrows 15.
A.Kestrel 1,
Dunlop Road, close to the Road.Robins feeding on the old fallen Aples30, with
2 Varied Thrushes.Further down the road there where 15 Meadowlarks in the
grassy area, Buffleheads 6,Lesser Scaup 1,Green -winged Teals 4 and 2 Marsh
Hawks and 1 female Kestrel.
After I looked at all the Swans over,I birdied the rest of Brady and since
the tide was high on the Ocean 2.35 with a 8.0 there where lot, of
Shorebirds on Foster Rd around 100+ Black-bellied Plovers and over 200
Dunlin with 30 Least Sandpipers.
The fields where covert with Shorebirds, there I could have spend more time.I
also had 1 male Ring-necked Duck, what pose good for excellent photos, more
Green -winged Teals and lots of Pintails. When we was there the other day we
had no waterfowl hardly.
Back to Schafer Boom Rd I had a white -throated Sparrow with Song Sparrows
and 1 Fox Sparrow .Coopers Hawk close to the bridge.Back to Foster Road
where I saw 2 Red-tailed Hawks,on all Brady Road there where 5 Red tailed
Hawks.Close to the model Airplane Field, there where 25 Meadowlarks, and many
Juncos also a group of 40 Brewers Sparrows.I went back to the Swans and
looked again,we see if other birders will report this Bewick's Swan

It was a good day as Marv always says lot's of birds to count. In the end it
start raining.

Cheers Ruth Sullivan
