Thanks to Fiona Cohen's wonderful photos, I was able to get to Greenlake and
watch the pied-billed grebes (old friends from when I lived at Greenlake) in
action. What a treat to watch one dedicated parent bring food, cut it up
into smaller pieces when necessary, and explain to their young how to eat!
And to see the other dedicated parent supervise closely, especially when one
of the young was doing something dangerous like swallowing a huge (for him)
fish or wading off the nest into open water. For those interested in the
step-by-step dinner and supervisory experience, I've posted a bunch of
photos on Flickr.
