I'm sorry if someone else has already reported this, but I was
walking around Green Lake this afternoon (July 9) when I noted a Great Blue
Heron on the west side of the lake. It was standing on a log in the lilies
along with a few turtles. I was admiring this bird, when a heron-like
racket started up. I looked closer to see where this noise was coming from,
and then a Green Heron shot out from the vegetation closer to shore. It
flew around briefly, then landed on the lily pads and walked around on them.
I can't remember seeing a Green Heron walk on lily pads before. Can't
remember seeing a Green Heron at Green Lake either!
