Tina and I stopped by Edmonds on our way home from birding in Mason County.
We scanned the Edmonds waterfront for 2 hours from the dog park to North of
Brackets Landing without sighting the puffin.

The Tufted Puffin was still present as of 10:20 AM, though it appears it had
drifted to the southwest of the previously reported location. It was about
1/4-mile or more due west of the fishing pier. I was really lucky and found
it less than a second into my first scan. The weather was great, reminding
me of a nice day in San Diego, and the good light and flat calm water helped
in finding the bird. But as you might guess, on a day like today, one has
to fight to find a spot to set up a scope.

The only other alcids I saw from the pier were two Marbled Murrelets.
Rhinoceros Auklets and Pigeon Guillemot were north of the ferry dock. Two
Heermann's Gulls (1 adult, 1 immature) were also in the area.

Thanks to Todd Hass and his wife for finding the puffin and promptly
reporting it.
