I visited Ridgefield NWR (Clark County) from 6-7am this morning and again
from 3:30-5 this afternoon to view the shorebirds at the south and north end
of Rest Lake. Numbers are increasing (I had both Least and Western Sands
fly over my Battle Ground yard last night) although variety stayed the same
as yesterday's report from Bob Flores with one exception.

Western Sandpiper :75+
Least Sandpiper: 125
Semipalmated Sandpiper: 1
Long-billed Dowitcher: 21
Greater Yellowlegs: 15
Lesser Yellowlegs: 13
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER: 1 (flyover heading south this morning with no
indication that it was going to stop anytime soon)
Killdeer: 6
Wilson's Snipe: 8

The same Yellow-breasted Chat was calling from the brush line to the East of
Rest Lake. This afternoon, many Vaux's Swift were flying and chittering
over Rest Lake along with at least two Purple Martins. American Bittern,
Sora, and several Virginia Rails put in appearances.

Keep your eyes and ears skyward.
