Good Evening All,
Today we participated in the second season of mid-July hummingbird banding
at Tom Lambs place south of Dixie. This go around 75 hummers were banded by
three pros. We will finish up in the morning and will see what comes in with
cooler weather tomorrow. The very first hummer captured and looked over was
a recapture from last year at the same site. The break down of birds banded
is 60% Calliope, 38% Black-chinned and 2% Rufous. The only adult male birds
still left in the area are the adult male Black-chinned. Many HY Calliope
were caught and banded. No hummers injured or lost. It was a very good day
though very hot (98 degrees).
