Tweeters,Sidra Blake and I birded the River "S" unit of Ridgefield NWR today. Several days ago I had no shorebirds but today there were a few. The real highlight was 6 RIVER OTTERS mucking through the roadside water channel. I never realized they could be so vocal. In addition, there seems to be a larger numbers of ducks congregating on Rest Lake.Highlights were as follows:TEAL TRI-FECTAGREAT EGRET - 9VIRGINIA RAIL - 2GREATER YELLOWLEGS - 5LEAST SANDPIPER - 8LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER - 9PURPLE MARTINS - many over our house the past few daysRIVER OTTERS - 6I will post a few pictures of the otters on my webpage.Cheers and good birding,Tyler HicksRidgefield, WA
