Today, with camera in hand, I paddled around Lake Union. In the cove
just west of Laurelhurst and east of the Union Bay Natural Area
(Montlake Fill), I saw a male Ring-Necked Pheasant by the water's
edge. I got a few photos from about 50 feet away, then he ambled off
into the brush. Ten or fifteen minutes later I heard a Pheasant
calling further to the west.

I've heard that the pheasants once common at the Fill are not being
seen this year. So here's one for the record.

I also noted a Pied-Billed Grebe nest on the western bank of the
water west of the Fill with at least three eggs in it. So there may
be baby grebes yet-to-be.
