I birded Paradise this morning from 6am to noon. The Ptarmigan hen with her 4 chicks was at the described spot (I hadn't had internet access all weekend, so I'm glad I found it). The chicks are still flightless, so the family should remain at this spot for another week I would guess.

What a difference the time of day makes ... I had several family units of Gray-crowned Rosy-finches (totaling about 30 birds) early starting from just below Panorama Point. The Upper Skyline trail had many birds, even at the ptarmigan spot I had a few in the same field of view as the ptarmigan.

A first at Paradise for me was a Mountain Goat scaling a steep snow field above the ptarmigan spot.

Hello tweets, Yesterday on a TAS field trip we were

able to find a female W-T Ptarmigan with 4 young, thanks to the sharp eyes of Jeff Cohen. Located at the traditional spot ~ 1/2 way across the

trail linking Panorama pt. and the Golden trail above

Myrtle Falls, only green area with several streams.

Wildflowers were blooming profusely, butterflies were

scarce.

No Rosy-Finches, but large crowds and horrible parking

conditions, advise a week-day trip.
