We tried one last time for the Stint, but gave up at 10 a.m. July 28. The OS Wastewater plant is clearly a high tide feeding spot now, and that made the times out of synch. We had to leave just as the peep were arriving July 27 ahead of the 6 pm high tide and the birds were pretty much gone after the 6 am July 28 high by the time we got in on July 28 at 8:30.

On the evening of July 27, there were thousands of Sooty Shearwaters off the OS jetty at sunset, but not a one early in the morning, when the light was good.

July 28 we finally found some shorebirds at Midway beach -- 6 Snowy Plover, 3 G Yellowlegs, 1 Wilson's Phalarope and tons of Semi-p Plovers, Dowitchers, & Westerns.

Tokeland held several distant Marbled Godwits.

Finally, we tried our first beach drive at Grayland. After gagging my terrified wife, we ventured forth and found it was delightful. We also found large numbers of shorebirds, finally. The large flocks were widely separated. We saw large numbers of Least, Western, Sanderlings, Sem-p Plovers and one lone Ruddy Turnstone.
