Subject: [Tweeters] Hummbingbirds and our heat

The last couple days I've seen hummingbirds in places I've never seen before,
and acting like I've never seen before. (But then, I never can entice them to
my yard, so perhaps they're acting completely normal, just in new places!)

One has been buzzing about the birch tree in the back yard lately, have never
seen one there before - and it would perch on branches occasionally, stop
hovering/flapping. It spent quite a lot of time, half an hour or more, flying
in and around the tree.

I've also noticed one sitting in the chain-link fence, and one sitting on my
picket fence. Never saw that before in 11 years here! Also saw one hovering
around the gutters on my house, and lightly touching down for a split second
before heading off again.

In fact, I've never seen so many hummingbirds here before. My yard & plantings
have not changed.

So I'm curious, what does this kind of heat here mean to hummingbirds?

Thanks,
