Hi, Tweets

On the Vaux's swift migration - Bill Kaufman and I count on Saturday
nights at the Wagner School in Monroe. Last Saturday was quite fun
with over 24 people, happy children and dogs playing on the grass,
and a total of 7 swifts going into the chimney around 9-9:30pm. The
local swift-catching crow didn't show up, so these last little guys
made it in. This is probably the end of official counting until next fall.

At my home, I had my first vocalizing western tanager last Saturday
and also the first ever California quail. A male and female quail
were feeding on corn I put on the ground for whatever comes along. I
hope they stay around. Our street's olive-sided flycatcher hasn't
showed up yet, but everything else seems to be busy nesting.
Fledgling juncos and chickadees and Steller's jays are all around.

Enjoy the gorgeous weather!

Cheers, Diann
