Eastern Kingbirds are nesting along this dike and have nested annually along the slough on both sides for several years now. There is an active nest about a quarter mile down the dike on the left in a leafless snag, in a crotch about ten feet from the top. There is another pair further down the dike that seems to be interested in willows on the right side of the dike.

First off, I must thank Greg Toffic, and Jeff Gibson for posting this location. This is not just a good spot for birding it was terrific. Bullock's Orioles, Eastern Kingbirds, Flycatchers, Osprey, Black-headed Grosbeaks, Spotted Sandpipers and, Bald Eagles were the highlights of the day
I am sure the Eastern Kingbirds are nesting in the area as you can tell from the photos. I don't think this is very common for Western Washington.

In addition to the birds a Long-tailed Weasel made an appearance about 6:30 am. Unfortunately no Great Egret either.
