Hi Tweeters,
I got a call an hour ago from some people who live on 27th Ave. just
south of Tieton Drive in Yakima. They had found a small owl in the
furnace room in their basement. The furnace room is unfinished. It
is possible the owl was blown out of a tree near their house in the
wind storm two nights ago and managed to crawl into a hole in the
exterior wall of the house, then walked across the ceiling until it
fell into the furnace room. I picked it up at about 9:00 this
evening. It seems to be in good health. I will be taking it to
Steve and Kathy Seibert for rehabbing until it is mature enough to release.
A photo of this cute little owl is in the new photos folder on my website.
This house is in an area of residential Yakima where Western
Screech-Owls are quite common throughout the year.
