There in downtown Oakland - center of the city - A doe and her fawn, A raccoon with 4 kits, A striped skunk and absolutely the best a coyote. I was astounded.

I was walking home from visiting a friend near Lake Merrit on the Grand and Harrison sides and I saw 2 Brown Pelicans, a flock of 11 Geese (mom and dad and youngsters), a Lesser Nighthaw and a Barn Owl fly around the lake or in the trees / across the meadows . Also thousands of Cedar Waxwings, Robins, Mourning Doves, Gulls, Ducks and even a Virgina Rale in the Canal right under Grand Avenue. Fascinating seeing these birds -especially in numbers.
