Few people visit Mt. Adams (the least disturbed/developed of Washington's major mountains) but the view from Hell-roaring Overlook is stunning, like standing on the edge of the world. If your visit is in late July through August the wildflowers in Bird Creek Meadows are among the finest and everyone will know where all the hummingbirds went when they left the lowlands. Migrant birds mix with alpine species to provide plenty of opportunities for birders.
