Regarding the behavior of common yellowthroats, I had the opportunity to
observe and photograph a pair at Marymoor Park the other day. They appeared
to be involved in some kind of courtship ritual. The male was following the
female closely as they flitted from branch to branch and I observed him
feeding her on occasion. He also tried to mount her several times but she
always slipped away from him. This appeared to me to be an example of the
male trying to win the affections of a prospective mate. They stayed in a
rather restrictive area so I was able to observe them for over an hour. I
have put a close-up photo of the female on my website - something you don't
see pictures of very often.

There are also several other new images from various locations that might
interest you including lazuli buntings that appear to be nesting at
Marymoor.

Cheers,
