Caspian Terns showed up in Everett at least by April 9th this year, as I posted in Tweeters. Seemingly there are more than usual here. From the Anchor Pub at the bottom of Hewitt Ave ( right next to the port of Everett) I still see a hundred or more every evening around sunset. There are typically 100+ birds up at the 10th street boat launch also.

After reading Joe Meche's post from Bellingham, I wonder if they may be nesting in Everett. The port of Everett had a big development scheme gone bad and has razed many acres of buildings on the waterfront. They have many areas empty and fenced off. Maybe providing temporary Caspian breeding sites? The place may be vacant for years.

By the way, when birding ect on the port of Everett waterfront - smile, (or give appropriate hand signals), because you're being spied on. The port has been bragging about the million + dollars they got from 'homeland security' for camera's and they are using them. On a recent walk down to the beach at Pigeon Creek I got a 'review' of my facial expressions from a port security guy who was watching my response to a homeless person building a driftwood 'house' at the little beach there. He told me 'it looked like you thought it was funny'. I did'nt , and I really did'nt think it was funny being spied on.
