Another brief stop this evening at the seasonal ponds along 12th st. NE on Smith Island paid off in shorebirds! This is the road just north of the Everett Sewage Ponds.

This evening there were a single pair of Wilson's Phalaropes (one pair or more have been around ,off and on, since 6/4), 4 Greater Yellowlegs, and at least 27 Killdeers. Phalaropes were at these same ponds last year about the same time in June. (6/9 - 12 /08).

All three teal still present, just a couple of Green- winged, and a half dozen each of Blue-wing and Cinnamon Teal drakes. A fine male Harrier flew by.

Feeling shorebird lucky, I walked out to Spencer Island, with plenty of exposed mud about - and saw exactly zero shorebirds of any kind after a careful scan of the area. Did hear one Spotted Sandpiper along the sewage ponds.

Many bright Goldfinches on the cross dike at Spencer. Also singing Yellow Warblers, Swainson's Thrushes, and Song Sparrows. A few Waxwings, Cowbirds, and a Black- headed Grosbeak about, along with many of the usual pleasant suspects.
