I was surprised to observe an American White Pelican on Padilla Bay this afternoon (Sunday 6/14), around 5pm. This bird was on the mud flats in amongst 200+ Great Blue Herons at low tide, about 300 yards north from the observation tower at the Breazeale Nature Center, just north of the town of Bay View, and Bay View State Park, off of Bayview Edison Road in Skagit County.

I am not sure how many Skagit records there are of this species, but I would guess only a handful.
