Hello Tweeters,
Ann Kahle and I birdied Chelan County from the11th to the 13th June manly
County birding.I don't know if this is the greatest time for finding a lot
of species,I wonder since it was so slow at our first stop the ICICLE CREEK
in Leavenworth. It was around 8.30 AM when we started,it could be also of the
late time .One bird we did not missed the White-headed Woodpecker and nearby
2 SPOTTED SANDPIPER flying on the river both calling loudly. The BLACK-HEADED
GROSBEAKS calling loudly, and lots of VIOLET'S SWALLOWS flying around.I
remember when I came with Patrick in the fall and even in Winter we had a
lot of birds. And ICICLE CREEK is well known and birdied.
Next stop was Confluence State Park in Wenatchee,The River had not 1 Gull
species.We found easy 5 Eastern Kingbirds, 2 CATBIRDS, HAMMOND'S
FLYCATCHER,C.QUAIL( many) BULLOCK'S ORIOLE, DOWNY WOODPECKER,RED WINGED
BLACKBIRDS, RAVEN AND BLACK SWIFT.We again had not saw any Warblers or
heard any
We drove to LAKE CHELAN,trying to find a good place where we could find some
birds, ending up in a Campsite higher elevation the name of this great so
quite camp site what was to us recommended from a Campsite down on the main
drag,it was recommended after he found out what we need to finding some
birds. The name of this place called SNOBBERY PARK.We both found this place
great and quite. It was to late for birding, the trees where all Ponderosa
Pine with heavy underbrush. We had great hopes this we will get more birds. It
was getting late and looked as the weather from high head ,would change to
rain and thunder. But the clouds moved away from our area and we got no rain
at all.Friday real early ,we started, but it looked as there where only
ROBINS calling, Little higher we had a GRAY FLYCATCHER,BLACK headed
GROSBEAKS ,O.JUNCOS, WESTERN WOOD PEWEE (calling for ever),but probable the
best where 1 male CLARKS NUTCRACKER (5 birds)We was exited about this, and 1
OLIVE -SIDED FLYCATCHER.On the way down hill on Snobbery Road we both saw
the ADULT GOLDEN EAGLE on the Snobbery Road, fairly low flying,Lot's of
Robin's,our first 2 SONGSPARROWS, WESTERN TANAGER (bright male)Black-headed
GROSBEAKS,DUSKY FLYCATCHER,C.QUAILS,
Back to Chelan Road to the Chelan Park(what was real quite(only Robin's
again) But on the Chelan Road we had 1 Townsend's Solitaire (flying over the
road) and 1 Rough-winged Swallow on the wire.
We birdied Manson and Wapota Point,do to the masses of condos and developed
area there also was few birds ,as the only CANADA GEESE on the whole trip.1

first campsite the SNOBBERY CAMPSITE.
