Hi Angela,
This could be a female baltimore oriole, based on the white wing bar, length
of beak, yellow coloration. The bird appears a bit small, and the tail
slightly stubby for an oriole. The other option would be a female wester
tanager. Have your friend examine some real pictures of both birds and see
if one or the other jogs her memories. To me, the eyes of orioles are very
distinct.
