HI, My husband and I spent several days in Rimrock Meadows, doing much of nothing, it was cold and windy, and did I say very cold at night? We did get out and do some birding, the one highlight being an adult Loggerhead Shrike hunting in Coyote Canyon, in the Rimrock area, whichis Nature Conservancy land, in the Moses Coulee. Came home to an calling Olive Sided Flycatcher next door, and the Western Tanagers which had been hanging out a bunch in my gardens this summer,are still here, using the pond, and the male was fly catching from the weeping birch, which now has a healthy number of aphids and other insects hanging about.Last year the tree was pretty much aphid free, and the Lady Beetles also had disappeared, but the cycle has started anew for us.
