Tweets,
I couldn't bear to waste a perfectly good trip to Portland so I stopped by
Ridgefield NWR coming and going to see the White Pelicans. As previously
reported, at least 10 and perhaps up to 15 were resting on Rest Lake. Other
interesting birds: Yellow-headed Blackbird (first patch of cattails on left,
with noisy fledglings), Great Egret (2 at south end), Vaux's Swift, Bald
Eagle, bittern, rail and sora. Just south of the rail crossing were
Bullock's Orioles, plus a good assortment of forest birds on the descent. A
Lazuli Bunting was singing at the edge of the field just below the top
entrance gate. Someone reported hearing a chat "across from #14" -- which
may refer to a location near or in the direction of the bathroom. Good
birding!
