Later today, the BirdFellow.com journal will
offer a piece written by Steve Mlodinow that is called, "Getting Lucky:
A Primer on Finding Rare Birds. It is a fun essay that provides some
helpful hints to birders who are interested in honing their skills and
becoming more adept at finding the unusual bird among the thousands of
common birds one encounters during a typical day of birding. This piece
includes a great close-up photo of a Barrow's X Common Goldeneye hybrid and a
photo of Steve scoping the Iowa Beef refuse piles (near Wallula,
Washington) from the roof of his SUV. The latter image alone is worth
the visit.
