Early Morning Bird Walk
Saturday, May 16 at 6:45 a.m.
Each spring, migratory birds arrive in the Pacfic Northwest from Central and South America to reproduce. We celebrate their return with zoo staff leading small groups around the zoo to learn about these birds that make the zoo their temporary home. Children and birders of all levels are welcome. Meet at the zoo's South Entrance located at N. 50th and Phinney Ave. N. The walk lasts ~2 hours. Please bring binoculars and weather-appropriate clothing. Space is limited to the first 50 people who RSVP. Please e-mail eric.kowalczyk at zoo.org to reserve your spot. Free for zoo members; regular zoo admission for non-members.
Festival for the Birds
Saturday, May 16: 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
In celebration of International Migratory Bird Day, Woodland Park Zoo's Festival for the Birds pays tribute to the world's migratory bird species. Early in the morning we will have mist netting and banding demonstrations. Throughout the day there will be keeper talks and programs that focus on this year's theme: Celebrating Birds in Culture.
