With descending snowflake-clumps greater in diameter than a hummingbird's
nest, once again the Anna's hummingbird family has made it through a Seattle
March morning. Perhaps some dynamic of the snow got the mother feeding from
a different (south) side of the nest this morning, with her back to me, but
I'm relieved to see that she's now reverted to feeding the chicks from the
northeast side -- lots better for photography!

The young are growing in size and in ability to stretch upward out of the
nest. I wonder whether the mother is strategically withdrawing her beak so
that the chicks will develop their limb and neck muscles?

sinking feeling that budding leaves and flowers on the hawthorne will
obscure the nest before too much longer, so I'm spending lots of time at the
camera these days...
