This is a very interesting report. On the inaugural voyage of our little Boston Whaler last September from Marysville, we encountered a near-death 6' White Sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus) near the mouth of Steamboat Slough, not that far from Port Susan. I've since learned that they are fairly common there and at the entrance to and in the Snohomish River. The fish we came across had been, unfortunately, hit by a boat propeller. I gather they feed heavily on Puget Sound mud-shrimp prevalent in the area.
