Thanks to those who helped identify the Brazos Bend bird. Those who
responded with the greatest certainty said it was an Orange-Crowned Warbler.
There were also opinions expressed that it might be an Orange-Crowned or
Tennessee Warbler, a Northern Parula, or a Warbling Vireo. My thought on
watching it was that it behaved like and Orange-Crowned Warbler, but the
"necklace'", which is apparently some kind of shadow caused by flexing the
neck feathers, and the lack of significant breast striping did not seem a
good fit. Something about the split eye ring made me want to turn it into a
bird I had not seen before. I have now accepted the verdict of the majority
of experts.

Incidentally, regarding the Northern Parula, I did see one the next day at
High Island-a life bird-and the neck ring is a kind of double band of blue
and rust. The Northern Parula is a strikingly colorful and good looking
bird; by comparison the Orange-Crowned Warbler is a bit plain.
