Tweeters,

While birding with Paul Hicks on this cold morning, we came across large numbers of Violet-green and Tree Swallows in south Thurston and north Lewis County. Just along upper Scatter Creek near my home, there were 300 or more swallows flying low over the marsh. Nearly every inland body of water we passed had numbers of swallows flying low.

I currently have five hummer feeders hanging, and a male Rufous guarding each one. One or more females are now on hand too, so an increasing rate of territorial and shuttle displays by the males.

Good birding, Bob
