Hi Tweets,
First, thanks to everyone who suggested possible ID's on my Renton mystery bird last week.
Birding UBNA (the Fill) this afternoon, I saw a ring-necked duck pair in the slough. This looks like the same male I saw last year, because his eyes are red not yellow. Another birder also noticed the difference. Does anyone know if some ring-necked have eyes that are a deep orangey-red instead of yellow? I can't find any notes about this anywhere...
Other notables at the Fill: the ruddy duck is still in the central pond, and there were a pair of lesser (I think) scaup hanging out in the slough as well.
Happy birding!
