On 3/21 midway along the Cameron Lake Road there was a flock of four to five hundred Snow Buntings, by ten times the largest flock I had ever seen. Farther south along the road a flock of thirty to forty Mountain Bluebirds, mainly males, actively foraged along the road while a flock, about twice that large, of Sandhill Cranes could be seen against the sky (and heard) standing on the top of a hill to the northwest. I saw only one Turkey Vulture but a local rancher reported having seen five. It was interesting, except for the Snow Buntings, to find those species that far north at that date.

On 3/22 at the Leahy Junction Sage-Grouse lek there were nine displaying males and about an equal number of females south of the road. North of the road I could locate only five males and no females.
